Thanks T.

Wow what a day huh? I'm so sorry I forgot to establish your new home over here at the new forum................charge it to an over inundated senior brain, and not my heart :-)

I know that the first few days are going to be a bit overwhelming, but we will make it through this in fine shape. The mods and Terry are fine tuning the new forum and will be for a while, but for the most part the basics are in place.

One of the things I'm most proud of about our mod team is that in four days after being notified by About. com that they we shutting down all their forums on August 31st, we were able to decide on a new forum host (Delphi Forums) that would give us the best chance to create a new home for our members in a timely manner, and although it's different, we were able to create enough familiarity to make our members feel comfortable as possible.

When you start looking around and become familiar with the new format you will find that new forum offers much more than the old one, including direct technical support for our moderators and members.

Three things you can do to get started in making this transition easier.

1. Take a look to the left at the DISCUSSIONS area to the left of this page

  • Click on the drop down menu in grayed area immediately beneath it.
  • If you click on All you will see all the folder category folders like, Quit Buddies Unite, Forum Navigation and Rules, General Chit-Chat etc. These are the same category headings we had at the old forum. When you scroll down the system shows you if there are new messages in the thread.
  • When you click on the drop down menu you can also select things like

Unread to me (messages to you waiting to be read.

2. Click on the drop down menu on your profile picture/avatar at the top right of the page. You will see

  • My Profile Photo ( you can your avatar or picture from your computer)
  • My Profile
  • My preference
  • My Account
  • Help
  • Logout

3. Please familiarize your self with the Help button contents

This is where you can browse Delphi FAQs for general information, or post a question in one of the Support Forums, where Delphi staff, volunteers, and knowledgeable members are happy to lend a hand. You will also find "How To" guides that are fully illustrated tutorials that show you exactly how things work on Delphi forums

Please also continue to use this thread to vent your frustration and ask questions about the new forum.

Best wishes as always.

Hello, Dee.  I know the work it takes and I am grateful. Lots of stress. Lots left to do.

I do like this so far.  See more advantages over the old forum than disadvantages.  So far!

It will just take a little time.

Peace,

Oh yes!  My problem is fixed!  I can post again!  You don't know how happy I am - I was feeling very blue and then I thought I might lose you all!  Phew, glad you're all here safe and sound - who are we missing JoJo?

Hi Dee, please ignore my pleading message from earlier, lol.  As you can see I have somehow been safely restored to my team (not sure how grateful they will be mind you ha ha).

Thanks for all the hard work you and the other mods are putting in to get this site up and running in such a short time.  I'm sure we don't let you know nearly often enough how appreciative we are for all that you do for us - we certainly do take you for granted at times don't we?

Anyway, huge thanks out to you all.

Sooz :)

Jo Jo -

I have a request in with management at About to see whether we can migrate whole threads, but so far, no reply other than they're cking into it.  I think we should assume in the essence of time that we can't.  You can move threads post by post, which some are - especially important for journals and milestones, but anything you think is important enough to move - just create a thread here in the appropriate folder and move the posts by copy/pasting.  Jenn has been moving groups of them - you could ask her about it.

In terms of contacting others, please do!  Also, post to them directly on the old forum - it will be live for another week yet.

Hope this helps.

T.

F.Y.I.

The Smoking Cessation site and all articles will still be there at (http://quitsmoking.about.com ) . It's just the forums that are going away.

When things quiet down here a little,  Forum Guide Terry will be adding a Quit Smoking Library folder with links to everything.

Hi Douglas - thanks for popping by!  I will be 6 weeks quit this Wednesday which I am very happy about.  This quit feels different to all the others - I just don't want to smoke - it really is that simple a difference - who knew? lol.  I'm dealing with each trigger as it comes and in some cases planning to meet them head on - I've managed to survive a row with hubs and the youngest daughter by just crying harder and longer ha ha.

Thanks you Captain!  Over and Out!

Huge hugs.

Sooz :) x

Hey there lovely Rula - really glad to see you made it over here.  Autocorrect in French - how funny, lol.  It's weird seeing everything on the left now - very odd indeed for my poor brain.  Who else hasn't signed in over here yet from our group - we need to track them down and get them settled in....

Hope you are having a good 3 DOT day!!  Time to party I think?  What are you going to do to reward yourself?

Sooz :)
