The 9 Best Rebounders and Trampolines, Tested and Reviewed

Our editor-tested picks are stable, with the perfect amount of bounce

Best trampolines and rebounders displayed on lawn

Verywell Fit / Jessica Juliao

Rebounders and exercise trampolines can make a dynamic addition to anyone’s at-home fitness routine. While jumping on a rebounder could be considered child's play, it actually offers a myriad of benefits for people of all ages. For starters, all that jumping gets your heart pumping, making it a great cardio workout. It can also improve strength, mobility, and balance, particularly in older adults. Plus, let’s face it—it’s more fun than running on a treadmill!

When looking for a rebounder or trampoline for home use, experts like John Hines, bellicon USA's communications director, recommend prioritizing ones with a jump zone that's wide enough for your body type and foot size, with a surface material that's both durable and comfortable. The springs on the rebounder should offer enough tension for a good bounce but not so much that the workout becomes hard on your knees.

To find the best trampolines and rebounders, we tested 21 options in The Verywell Testing Lab. We evaluated each rebounder and trampoline based on the key categories of stability, bounce, tension, quality, and value. We also had a certified personal trainer from our Review Board review this article for accuracy, how to safely use trampolines and rebounders, and the best way to evaluate them.

I would recommend this to someone who's interested in venturing into rebounder workouts that also has a small space.” —Sydnie Cole, Verywell Fit product tester

Trampolines and Rebounders We Also Tested

In total, we tested 21 trampolines and rebounders, but only nine performed well enough to make our final list of recommendations. While these four trampolines had notable features, they ultimately didn’t impress us enough to make the cut.

  • Darchen’s Rebounder Mini Trampoline is lightweight, affordable, and easy to tote around, and we like that it has an inclusive weight capacity of 400 pounds. However, the jumping area’s materials felt a bit thin and low-quality.
  • The uneven legs on ONETWOFIT’s 48” Silent Mini Trampoline caused a bit of noise when we were using it, but that didn’t change the fact that we still felt stable while working out on it. We liked the wide diameter and the fact that it offered great bounce.
  • RAVS 48” Foldable Fitness Rebounder is a great value for the cost, considering its sturdy feel across a range of exercises. We liked that it had a good grip and felt slip-proof, but the handlebar didn’t lock into place as well as it could have to offer more stability.
  • JumpSport’s 570 Pro 44” Fitness Trampoline was super easy to assemble but felt unstable during movements in which we were jumping forward or backward.

What We’ve Updated

We continually test new trampolines and rebounders as new products become available, and we make sure to reevaluate our top picks as we gather more insights. For this update, we replaced four products with ones that we deemed better quality after further research and testing. We also added our overall rating for each product on our list, which is a score that illustrates our overall satisfaction with the product after testing. Finally, we interviewed an additional expert, a certified personal trainer, to deepen our understanding of this product category and to ensure our recommendations are coming from a place of expertise.

Rebounder vs. Trampoline: What’s the Difference?

The terms “rebounder” and “fitness trampoline” are used interchangeably and refer to versions that are one-third the size of the typical large, full-size trampolines that are common in backyards. Full-size trampolines can give you a good cardio workout since you can produce larger, deeper bounces that allow for more muscular engagement, says Hines. However, due to their larger size, traditional trampolines are usually limited to the outdoors.

Fitness trampolines and rebounders make it easier to execute faster-paced exercises, like jumping jacks, so they are usually favored when it comes to at-home cardio exercise. And their compact size allows them to be used indoors. There are two main styles of rebounders, and you can’t go wrong with either—your choice depends on personal preference.

  • Spring rebounders: Spring rebounders are heavy-duty and very durable, but sometimes create too much tension—making for a more high-impact, less comfortable bounce.
  • Bungee rebounders: Lo Russo recommends bungee rebounders because they provide a smoother, gentler, and quieter bounce, for a more comfortable, low-impact experience

What to Look for When Shopping for Trampolines and Rebounders

  • Frame and Mat Quality: When doing workouts that involve jumping, safety and security is, of course, integral. A good quality frame and mat will be firm, stable, and durable enough to hold up over time. It shouldn’t make too much noise or wobble while it’s being used, either.
  • Safety: Most trampolines come with a safety pad that covers the trampoline’s springs to make your workout safer and more comfortable by protecting your feet from the springs. Some trampolines also offer a handlebar for added stability while working out. However, Aly Giampolo, founder and method director at the Ness, a trampoline-based fitness studio in NYC, warns against relying on a handlebar, as it can build bad habits, such as incorrect posture. She says the best thing you can do is get acquainted with moving on an unstable surface, like a vibration plate, before jumping on a trampoline.
  • Size and Portability: Many exercise trampolines fold up, making them easy to store and transport from place to place. The most popular sizes range around 40 inches. Smaller trampolines will likely limit the kind of exercises you can do and are ideal for small spaces. Lo Russo says that when it comes to size, 44 inches is typically sufficient for all types of workouts.
  • Additional Features: Some trampolines and rebounders come with additional features, like the option to customize size, color, and tension. You’ll find several options with handlebars and some that even come with resistance bands or a downloadable app that will guide you through workouts.

How We Tested the Trampolines and Rebounders

To find the best trampolines and rebounders, we spent 16 hours testing options from popular, high-quality fitness brands in our Lab. We also sought input from experts on the proper and safe use of fitness trampolines and what to look for when shopping for one. When testing trampolines and rebounders, we evaluate each option based on the following key criteria.

  • Ease of Assembly: Upon unboxing, we note how easy it is to assemble each item, and how straightforward or complicated the initial setup process is. Are the instructions clear? Were additional tools required? Could assembly be done by one person?
  • Stability: To test several attributes, we exercise on each trampoline, doing basic jumps, jumping jacks, low ski jumps, squats, and high knees for 30 seconds each. To evaluate stability, we note if there is any shifting or wobbling during exercise. We note if the springs allow a wide range of movement and if we ever feel unsafe or unbalanced while using the rebounder.
  • Bounce/Tension: To test the bounce of the trampoline, while we exercise, we note if the tension provides an effective workout. Can we maintain control? Is the bounce consistent and appropriate for the exercises?
  • Quality: To test for quality, we note if the components are built sturdily and made with quality materials. After we use the trampolines, we check for wear and tear and see if the firmness and stability remain consistent.
  • Value: To give each rebounder a value score, we don’t find out its price until after we’re done testing. Then, we consider if the price is something we would pay for this rebounder, how often we’d use it, and if we’d recommend it to others based on its value.

Frequently Asked Questions

What shoes and socks should I wear on a trampoline or rebounder?

You can use a trampoline or rebounder with bare feet, socks, or shoes. For added benefits, bouncing in bare feet or with socks can engage the feet, ankles, and lower legs more than when wearing sneakers.

Who should not use a trampoline or rebounder?

Hines recommends that those with health issues first consult their doctor or health professional to make sure it’s the right exercise for them, as jumping on a trampoline or rebounder can be a strenuous activity for some. Children should always be supervised when using a rebounder or fitness trampoline.
