Experience

Eva Hvingelby, NP, PhD, is a former writer for Verywell Health covering head trauma. She knew by the age of 3 she was destined for health care, and immediately began caring for the health needs of her family and companion animals. She began her official nursing career as a nurse’s aide, and continued pursing her clinical education to become an RN, and finally a Nurse Practitioner. As a nursing leader, she understands the roles and processes of everyone on the core healthcare team, from the aide to the primary care clinician.

Education

Eva completed a Master of Science and Nurse Practitioner degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She then completed a Master of Arts in Organizational Systems, and a PhD in Human Development at the Fielding Institute; she pursued the PhD to better understand why individuals make both healthy and unhealthy choices throughout their lifetimes. There are many internal and external forces that affect each person’s health related decision making. By understanding what motivates those decisions, Nurse Practitioners are able to provide optimal care.
