Nice capacity and lightweight
March 18, 2025:I became aware of the Venture Pal backpack at a library where they may be checked out as part of a hiking kit. The backpack was roomy and had several compartments. I figured it would be useful for short trips and for carrying things while riding a bike. The one I borrowed from the library was blue, but I chose to purchase a green one. The green on the product page was brighter than I like, but I noticed that the blue was also different than the real backpack. From checking reviews, I confirmed that the green is darker than pictured, then ordered that color. I'll post photos to show the actual colors.I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the entire backpack may be compressed into a built-in pouch; which is how it arrived. Because of it's collapsible nature, there is no padding. The fabric is water resistant.I'll update the review if anything remarkable happens.

Perfect for travel!! I need a backpack that is not heavy to take to Alaska. I received this yesterday and I am amazed at how well it is built, sewing etc, and the room in the backpack. I rolled up 2 puffer jackets and 2 raincoats and put in the backpack and they fit with room to spare. Another great thing is the backpack weighs less than a pound, has numerous pockets and the pockets to hold the water bottles on each side are really deep so no worry of them falling out.. I am 66 years old and have never used a backpack because I thought they were bulky, I was pleasantly surprised when I found this one.

first off I would like to say but this is not a $100 backpack. I've seen some reviews that compared this to higher-priced backpacks. This is a $20 backpack good for a day hike or just to carry your stuff in. It will never match up to $100 Osprey backpack and if you think it will then you're very delusional. It is what it is and that is a packable or foldable if you'd rather backpack. Let's not compare bananas with tennis balls because they're never going to match up.

As far as this backpack I really do like it. It consists of two large compartments, one is smaller than the other. It's perfect for someone who may want to just take some stuff to the gym or just go on a little day hike. I can carry a pair of shoes, a rain jacket, occasionally a hoodie, my wallet, my keys,my phone, my tablet 2 bottles of water, and snacks and still have room. It is very roomy and because it is lightweight it is easy to haul around. Now I don't do much travel so I cannot tell you if it fits on an airplane or under a seat but it's great for just taking off for a nice day walk or maybe grab a bunch of stuff and take it to work. It's a great bag for what it is. This is the second one I've owned as the first one just wore out after several years. I would not consider this a good bag for a computer as it is rather thin with no padding but it is great for just carrying what you might need for a Day hike. It would even be good to take to the beach.

I would recommend this bag for anyone looking for a simple little backpack to carry around their stuff in. I even have one that I use for emergency stuff. Just remember it is not $100 backpack so don't expect it to be but if you just want something lightweight to carry stuff around this is an awesome little backpack. it may not be right for everyone's needs so look before you buy but I think you will like this pack.

Can I put a 4.5 or 4.9 stars? The only reason I did not put 5 stars is to highlight there is room for some little improvements. I have had this backpack just under a month and done two airline trips so far. I have been impressed with it, as I expected to be given the other positive reviews and product description. My positive comments follow down below, after my minor notes, which are hardly critical:

    1. The smaller "inner" pocket inside the zippered front pocket is a "loose" pocket, as shown in my attached pic. If the bag is on my back, that's great. But as soon as I lay it down (under the plane seat, for example), everything in that pocket slides out into the zippered pocket; this has happened to me a couple of times already. A Velcro flap or small zipper on that pocket would solve it (at the cost of a fraction of an ounce... I get that; every addition costs!) A backpack by nature is tossed about, laid flat, thrown in the car, etc.
    2. The text notes the upgraded waterproof pocket, which I think is a great improvement on other stuffable bags. In my month of usage, I found myself using it for other things, like a stack of tissue in case I have an allergy attack on the plane. This pocket is good-sized, but will really only hold one item, either a swimsuit OR a towel, for example. I like that it is accessed from outside the bag.
    3. A key fob would be handy. When I'm traveling, I don't need my car keys from home... until I get back. A key fob would allow me to snap them in and know exactly where they are when I get back. I can't put them in the loose pocket (see point #1) because they won't stay there.

Now, highlighting the many features that I do like...
    1. That it easily stuffs into itself. I could just stuff it in, but I folded it vertically in quarters, then rolled it up and into the pocket. When I returned from my trip, I
    2. Even better: When I'm using the backpack, that stuff sack—inverted—becomes a zipper pocket itself... and the best place for the critical items I need secured (e.g., not 'loose') but easily accessible like lotion, wallet, car/hotel keys, earbuds, etc.
    3. The extra pocket (no zipper or flap) inside the main pocket is a good place for my Kindle.
    4. The light weight. I laid it flat in my carry-on bag while traversing the airport, then at the gate took it out and put it on my back. Now I had all of my plane essentials without having to rifle through my carry-on bag when I got to my seat.

Finally, the bag has a handful (6-10) little—and I mean *little*—loops on the outside. I have absolutely no idea what they're for, other than cosmetic purposes. But since they only cost hundredths of an ounce, it's not a big deal.
