BOSE SLEEPBUDS II

Your best sleep ever.

Bose Sleepbuds II use sleep technology clinically proven to help you fall asleep faster. They don’t stream music or podcasts, instead they work with the Bose Sleep app to deliver soothing sounds to lull you to sleep and Bose noise-masking technology so you stay asleep with fewer disruptions.

SLEEP STUDY

User-tested sleep technology

In a Bose-sponsored sleep study by the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and the UCHealth CARE Innovation Center, Bose sleep technology was clinically proven to help users fall asleep faster. The study also found that all participants believed noise was blocked effectively, like snoring and traffic. In addition, when surveyed, 8 out of 10 participants reported improved overall sleep quality and 76% felt it was easier to stay asleep and all believed noise was blocked effectively.

Choose from relaxing sounds to lull you to sleep or Bose-engineered noise-masking sounds designed to cover nighttime disturbances.

NOISE MASKING: Sleep sounds work with the noise-blocking design of the eartip, and are optimized to mask nighttime disturbances.

BOSE NOISE-MASKING TECHNOLOGY

Peace and quiet. When you need it most.

Unpredictable changes in sound are what interrupt your sleep. Sleepbuds use noise masking, not noise cancelling, to cover up disturbances by combining a noise-blocking design with optimized noise-masking sounds.

Passive noise blocking: Sleepbuds fit snugly in your ear, while the eartip forms a gentle, comfortable seal for passive sound reduction.

Noise-masking sounds: Bose sounds are optimized to play consistently and at the right frequencies to make unwanted noise less perceptible.

They work with the Bose Sleep app to deliver relaxing sounds that help you fall asleep, and use Bose noise-masking technology to cover unwanted nighttime disturbances that may otherwise wake you. So you get your best sleep ever. From wind down to wake up, this is your easy solution to better sleep.

Sleepbuds play content only from the app. Explore the Sound Library’s curated relaxation content — including tranquil tonal environments and sounds from nature and beyond — and Bose-engineered noise-masking sounds designed to cover nighttime disturbances like snoring, outside traffic, and next-door conversation. Download your favorites directly onto the earbuds to customize your nighttime routine. The app also lets you set an alarm only you’ll hear, and access other features including Phone-free Mode, which allows you to program your settings ahead of time so you can leave your phone in another room.

In addition to optimized sleep sounds, Bose noise-masking technology also uses the noise-blocking design of proprietary soft silicone ear tips. A pliable fin fits snugly in the ridge of your ear, while an umbrella shape gently seals off your ear canal to passively block noise. Three sizes are included so you can find a secure, comfortable fit. Sleep on your back or your side, toss and turn, or roll over during the night, Sleepbuds will stay put.

A nickel-metal hydride battery provides up to 10 hours per charge, enough for a full night’s sleep, while the included charging/storage case gives you up to three additional full charges. Experience Sleepbuds for yourself.

Noise masking, most comfortable for sleep 💤
I've been through a few types of devices to play sounds to sleep before buying the Bose 2 sleep buds. I've tried: noise cancelling headphones: impossible to sleep on ur side bc they're bulkly even though cancels out noise. They make u sweat. With do not disturb on my phone would still ring in headphones. Noise cancelling earbuds: they go too deep into ur ear and hurt a lot after time, painful to sleep on side. Only lasted 6 hours. All the pain wasn't worth the fact they cancelled noise. Sleep mask with headphones: didn't cover any noise at all & mask was big & bulky. The Bose sleep buds are the most comfortable option. There's a lot of sounds to choose from. There's white & brown sounds. One of my favorite is the Railroad. It's a static sound with subtle sounds of riding on a train. The tranquilities are soft & slow melodies. Like meditation or relaxation music. The naturescapes & tranquilities don't mask noise as well as noise masking options bc their volume varies a little. Noise masking options have a constant volume. The naturescapes are nature sounds. I once slept for a little over 13 hours with the sleep buds so they do have a long battery life! They're magnetic so it makes it little less harder to lose one. There's a lot of different clever nicknames. When u go in & out of the app there's a different sets of nicknames. These buds are made for sleeping only. You cant talk on the phone. If ur phone rings, it'll only ring on ur phone. Not in the sleep buds. That's why they have such a long battery life. There's 4 alarm sounds. They're calm but enough to wake u up. Unlike buzzer alarms that shock u out of bed. I get 3-4 charges from the case. I have a tragus piercing. It got irritated after a while so I don't put it in anymore. But, remember they're noise masking not noise cancelling. I live with friends and I sleep in the living room. The one wakes up btwn 5 & 6 am! I have the sleep buds at the highest volume & on play all night. They mask a good portion of noise. I sleep pretty well. They mask out ppl talking from the next room. But I can hear cabinets closing in the kitchen, dogs claws on the floor, doors closing. I don't know how well they'd work with a snoring partner...These sleep buds were not cheap, but worth the money. When I was searching I saw Anker had made earbuds for sleep that were a little cheaper. I like Anker for music. Since they were new & didn't have reviews yet, I went with the Bose sleep buds 2 that are 2nd generation & have good reviews. The only thing I don't like is when u have play sound after alarm it won't play. Like a few alarms to snooze. You have to play it manually snoozing doesn't work.Overall, I'm happy with the Bose 2 sleep buds. They mask the majority of noise. I have bad insomnia & take 2 controlled sleeping prescriptions plus supplements. These help me sleep with less interruptions. They're the most comfortable option and have a very long battery life. Even though they were expensive, they were worth it. If ur looking for something that will cover up noise & help u sleep I highly recommend the Bose 2 sleep buds! 💯👍🏼***1 year update***:All of the sudden the right sleepbud dies before the right one. When the right is at 30% the left dies. So, I only get about 9 hours out of the left bud. I use them daily. I require more sleep than the usual person. They were fantastic when I first got them. I didn't buy the warranty and I definitely cannot afford new ones now. Very disappointed!!!

I purchased the original Sleepbuds when they came out to try to help me deal with my wife's snoring which can be horrible. She says mine is bad too but I don't hear that so it doesn't keep me awake. :)

The original Sleepbuds were great. They were tiny, battery life was all night and then some unlike my Airpods, and they are pretty comfortable. Like the Airpods, it was pretty easy to forget they are in after a minute or two.

Unfortunately, the original Sleepbuds also had a major problem. After a couple months, the batteries started acting wonky. They would charge, then one wouldn't charge, they often had trouble connecting. It turns out that the new battery technology they used wasn't working out. Bose recalled the whole batch and refunded the money of those that purchased them, in full. I was happy to get the money back but very sad to lose the Sleepbuds.

In the time since, I've used my Airpods on the really bad nights but I can't lay on my side and the battery life isn't enough to get through the night. They even make an annoying sound that wakes you up right before the battery dies. Then I purchased a set of Jabra 75t that promised 7 hours of battery life (not quite, more like 5 hours). They were a little better at blocking noise but at the end of the battery life they screamed "Low Battery. Low Battery" at me. While the Airpods were comfortable (but not very good at blocking sound), the Jabras were not as comfortable, sometimes causing me ear pain where they rubbed.

Some nights I would use the Jabras and when they died I would switch to the Airpods. Not ideal.

I've looked at some of the other options out there but none of them appealed to me. That's why I'm so happy the Sleepbuds are back.

Bose has changed to good old, reliable NiMh battery technology. I'm not sure why they didn't go Li-Ion but I'm sure they had reasons. The new Sleepbuds II actually seem smaller than the originals but maybe that's because I'm used to the much larger (though still pretty small) Jabra earbuds. They don't stick out of my ears at all so laying on my side is no problem.

I've only used them one night but assuming they have the battery problem worked out, it will be so great to have them back. I slept for 8 hours last night and the battery charge still showed at 40%. They are very comfortable. I find the selection of sounds more than adequate. I just need a noise masking sound. I like the Brown Static since it helps block the low sounds of snoring better than some of the more "bright" sounds.

These are really expensive. And the charging case is too big. I'm not sure why it can't be Airpod or Jabra case sized. That would make them easier to travel with.

But they work, at least for me. Let's just hope we don't have battery problems again...
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Two+ months in. I'm still loving these. I'm sleeping SO good. I use them every night and in the 2+ months I have had them, the right one has fallen out twice, probably because I didn't get it put in quite right. A few nights ago I had some pain in the right ear, probably because I didn't get it put in quite right :). Most of the time, once they get settled in after a few minutes, I can't even feel them, even when laying on my side.

I'm still using the Warm Static sound and it works about 99% of the time to keep me from hearing any sounds from the other side of the bed. If I do hear it, I bump the volume up a touch and it goes away.

So, I'm definitely still happy. There does seem to be a bug either in the software or iOS where allowing phone calls to make it through to the buds doesn't stay turned on. If I get it working one night then it doesn't work the next night. I'm not sure who's fault that is, Bose or Apple.

I definitely recommend them if you are a light sleeper that can't tolerate any noises in your sleeping environment.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      UPDATE: 1 year in
Darn it. The left bud has stopped connecting to the app. I was thinking that they were two years old and these things do have limited recharge cycles. So I checked and no, they are only a year old. After slogging through the Bose support site and trying everything I was finally able to get to the place where they will replace them under warranty. That's nice but they are saying UP TO FOUR WEEKS to get the replacements.

How the heck am I supposed to get any sleep for the next four weeks without these things? Hopefully it doesn't take that long.

I'm still loving these things. They work very well for me. I hope this new set lasts more than a year.

I've been using thse sleep buds every night for almost a year and now I can't sleep without them. I originally purchases these because my room backed up to a fairly busy road and the noise of cars going by kept me up all night and would wake me up if a large truck drove by. They work perfectly for that. I currently live with my boyfriend and he snores, probably at a medium volume, and they also work for that. I personally don't keep my volume loud enough to drown out all of his snoring, but it makes it manageable to where I can sleep. I could turn the volume up to completely drown out the noise if I needed to. (The app has an indicator to tell you where you might not be able to hear noises like fire alarms. It will let the buds play fairly loud, but it will tell you that you may not be able to hear outside noises you'd want to hear above a certain point. I've included a screenshot to further clarify)
The case the sleep buds store in is also their charging case. A full charge will last about 4-5 nights of use, longer of they're not used daily. I've traveled with them and did not need to charge them. There are little indicator dots to show remaining battery life on the front inside of the case. When you connect the buds to your phone, it will display the battery life of the buds as well. The case uses a USB-C to charge. That's the same for my phone, so it's very convenient to charge my phone at night and charge the sleep buds' case during the day, but iPhone users will have to find outlet space for one more cable, just as a heads up.
So these are not ear buds that play any music you want. They connect via Bluetooth and via the bose sleep app to your phone. You're phone is more of a remote for the sleep buds. You go to the app where you can sample their prefabricated white noise sounds, pick a few that you want stored on the actual ear buds, it uploads them to the ear buds, and then you can scroll through the app to play what sound you want that night/day. The purpose for all this is to ensure that the white noise and your first alarm will play if your phone dies. (You can have multiple alarms go off, but if your phone dies in the night, only the earliest one will sound) I'd recommend downloading the Bose sleep app before purchasing the sleep buds to sample the white noise selection if you were curious about what to expect.
They do stay in your ears fairly well. They come with a small, medium, and large silicone sleve to fit most outer ears. I'm a side sleeper, and they sit flush in my ear and are comfortable against a pillow. I'm a very rough sleeper and toss and turn ALOT in the night. At first, the ear buds did fall out while sleeping and I had to search for them, but they were usually around my shoulder or under the pillow. Sometimes they'd be on the floor or further down in my sheets, but I think I was inserting them incorrectly because now they rarely fall out, almost never. But again, I sleep rough so don't be discouraged.
I'd recommend this to anyone who has a partner who snores, or for a partner who sets an unholy amount of alarms in the morning (they can use the sleep buds and have all their alarms sound while not disturbing you). I also recommend for anyone whose a light sleeper and is disturbed by noise. And you don't have to use them at night, I use mine while reading books or when my room mates are being loud as well. I know they're kind of expensive but they've really helped me sleep better and longer so I think they're worth the splurge.
My ONLY complaint, and it's a small one, is the color. They're very lovely, but they're off-white. When they do fall out of my ears and I'm looking for them in the middle of the night with my phone flashlight, they can be hard to find. My sheets and pillowcases are white though. I wish they had some reflective paint on them or were a bight color. Again, not a super big deal. I've never lost one, just a personal experience.

First: Everybody should be aware of this but if you aren't already... these do NOT play your own music. They can only play sounds from the Bose app. I was aware of this going in, and I'm perfectly satisfied as a result.

I've been having sleep difficulties for the past 2 decades at least. I've tried pretty much everything to mask sound, and it all just ends up blending together. Every white noise machine, every app, every speaker all blends in to the ambient noise around me and my mind keeps wandering. Most recently I've been using a Google Home ("Hey Google, play water noises") but if I turn the volume up too high it disturbs my partner.

Other options like headphones (uncomfortable when sleeping on side), earplugs (always fall out during the night no matter how carefully I insert them), or other earbuds (too bulky / uncomfortable when sleeping on side) never seemed to fit the bill.

So I've have these particular sleepbuds on my radar for quite a while but with a sceptical eye... it's a lot of money if it doesn't end up meeting my needs! Finally during Black Friday sales I saw a price that made me pull the trigger. I've now been using these for around 6 weeks now and feel ready to write a review.

Comfort: I have never had a more comfortable pair of earbuds. They fit perfectly in to my ear and it's like I'm wearing nothing at all (nothing at all... nothing at all!) when trying to sleep. I can comfortably rest on my pillow no matter the position and fall asleep with ease. Even better they've stayed secure throughout the night on every single occasion.

Sounds: I've mainly been using Warm Static (closest to white noise, which I prefer) and it's great. I note other uses have mentioned "clicks" or noticeable repeating sounds in other programs, but I can't comment on those specifically.

Sound dampening: My partner is a fairly loud snorer, let's not beat around the freshly sawn bush. These do the trick. I don't have the volume up full (I have it just at the point that it gives you a warning in app that it may block too many ambient sounds, around 75%) and it's very comfortable. On the odd occasion when sounds have broken through it's just a small whisper and not at all disturbing. The sounds itself seem to "fill" my head and even if my thoughts start to wander it's just this all-encompassing presence which helps me come back out of the thought spiral. This is what's been missing for me with other white noise generators; no matter how loud I had them I could still ignore them. I also found that I have to start using the "in-app" alarm instead of my usual phone alarm because I woke up one weekend with my regular alarm going off and I hadn't heard it for 20 minutes. Not a problem while on holidays but not going to cut it when trying to go to work.

Battery life: These have always still been playing when I wake up. I don't know what my longest sleep-in has been, but it's always been enough.

Overall: I'm very happy with these. I still think they're probably too expensive overall but I can't argue with the results.
