Great fit, thin and light, breathable, performance weight for activities like skiing in fairly cold weather
Wore this on my recent ski trip in the catskills, 29 degrees F. Its thin and lightweight but perfect as a helmet liner and a bit of nasal protection when the wind picks up. I brought a slightly thicker microfleece balaclava and a turtlefur gaiter as a back up for added protection in case the cold got real but I didnt need either in the high F 20's. This alone was enough to keep me covered while active. If you will be outdoors in the cold but not active, you might want something a bit more toasty, but I spent most of the day skiing without the mouth and nose covered, just left it under my chin and was fine. When I took my helmet off my head the fleece lining of my helmet was slightly damp from a little sweat (so im glad this thing wasnt thicker otherwise my head would have really built up a sweat), my neck was definitely warm and protected (but I also had other layers by my neck) and again for the mouth part, it is not exactly warm but the thinness made it comfortably breathable and offered just enough protection from the wind when I occasionally needed to pull it up to my nose. Compared to my other balaclavas ive tried, I like the fit on this one the best, it has a cool ninja fit around your face thats not sagging nor too tight. Great for those semi cold, light wind, weather conditions. Comfortable, versatile, and my first choice in ski masks when gearing up for a day on the slopes, but when it gets closer to 0 degrees or windy out, I'd switch out for the more dense microfleece lined one I have

Love this! We get inversion every winter, and man does it get cold here sometimes! I wore this today, multiple times, in the middle of the inversion, at 14 degrees F, and my face didn't freeze at all! I was only out for 10 minutes at the most, so don't know about long term, but I certainly noticed the difference since I've had it. I also work where there is a terrible wind all winter long; this really protected from the wind also. I'm not saying it didn't let any wind through, but it was a huge difference! This keeps all areas that are covered warm and I love to be warm!! My ears are super sensitive to wind and this doesn't let any blow by; it's amazing; no earaches for me! I can't stop smiling and being amazed at how much warmer my whole head, ears, neck, and face are wearing this thing! I would advise you to get one, or more, would make a great gift for anyone who hates the cold and feels it worse than other people! I'm not trying to be fashionable, just warm, and this does the job. I had a fleece one before and it was just too loose to be warm, resist wind and cold; this is tight to the head and a great material; I'd love to get a body suit out of it for a base layer! This has been my favorite purchase for cold protection along with my Terramar sock liners for my whole life. I'm 47, so that's a long time to search for warmth! Enjoy!

    UPDATE 1/28/17
Today it was 5 degrees F with no wind; I wear glasses so I can't wear this over my nose. I was out for a short time, 5-10 minutes, and could definitely feel the difference between my nose and parts under that were covered. My nose was freezing; the rest of my face was warm. I do wear a hat over this, but it does such a great job keeping my face warm.

UPDATE 2/7/18: Used this yesterday for the first time. This mask worked great! Kept my ears, face and nose warm. Going to be purchasing another for my girlfriend. Highly recommended. It probably isn't the warmest face mask you can purchase but very accommodating and easy to use.

Got this for snowboarding in Mammoth in the next two weeks. The fit is perfect and the quality is top notch. These are usually sold for over 40-50$ and I was stoked to see this at a price that is reasonable. I highly recommend this face mask and will be purchasing another for my girlfriend since she liked it a lot as well. Only thing is, it was very big on her so the "one size fits all" probably isn't true for smaller girls. would hope they have a women's version. For me 180 5'10'' it fits great and feels great.

Picture looks like a thicker item then actual. I work in a refrigerated environment, about 42 degrees on a 12 hr shift with A?C fans blowing. I have tried 4 or 5 different types of balaclavas and this is by far the most comfortable. It fits securely just the right amount of stretch, sufficient space around face and eyes, is breathable but very warm in cold and comfortable at higher temperatures. Does not feel tight after hours of wear does not lose it's shape and does not feel bulky. I wore this for 10 hours yesterday with a ball cap on top pushing snow at temps in the teens, never got cold or to hot. I have ordered 4 and gave one to my brother who has never used one. This could be worn comfortably for covid requirements in stores or riding especially where a helmet would not fit over a thicker item, or in extreme cold. Definately the best head/face covering for any situation. Used daily.

I got this balaclava to do winter sports and it's been great! The configuration options are really useful, allowing me to switch between using it as a neck warmer to a full-on balaclava and everything in between. It's also really breathable so I could continue using it as a full face cover during high aerobic activity.

The only downside is that it will rotate around my neck when I'm using it as a neck warmer and when I'm trying to switch to the nose/mouth cover configuration, it's hard to tell which part I should be putting over my mouth. If some way to identify the front/mouth section could be added, it would fix this problem.

This balaclava did not block the wind at all! It felt like my face was bare! Except that it was soaking wet after only 2 ski runs, & that moisture was right on my skin & mouth so it was annoying to speak & my face was freezing. I promptly went back to my old balaclava which had some insulating & moisture-wicking qualities.
